Artist of the Week: Chris Cornell
For the final week of my Casino Royale tribute, I am pleased to select Chris Cornell as my Artist of the Week. He wrote and performs the title song for "Casino Royale," called, "You Know My Name," and it's my profile song for the week. It's the first time since "Octopussy" (1983) where the theme song to a Bond film has a different title than the film does. It's also the first Bond song since "The Living Daylights" (1987) to be sung by a male. Cornell also has the distinction of being the first American male perform to do a Bond theme song.
Born in Seattle, Washington, Cornell gained fame as the lead singer for Soundgarden. My favorite Soundgarden song is "Black Hole Sun." He's now singing for Audioslave and working on his second solo album, due out in 2007. You can check out Chris' Myspace at: www.myspace.com/chriscornell . If you're on Myspace, leave him a comment and tell him I sent you.
